Author Francois Campbell has spent the last decade embracing extraordinary opportunities across the tailoring and fashion industries. Consequently, I have transitioned from teaching adults complex coat making to lecturing school children on diverse theatrical productions. Furthermore, I actively show students how they can pursue a life in the arts as a garment construction specialist. Moreover, I provide expert guidance on both professional sewing and pattern cutting. Accordingly, here are just a few remarkable projects I have had the pleasure of undertaking in recent years.

My latest book “The Waistcoat Workbook” was premiered at the Stitch Festival in March 2024 to the public which was a great honour. 

The day not only included my book signing but also a number of events which I participated in that was great fun!

One of the events was holding a masterclass in waistcoat construction to ‘base fit.’

The Knit and Stitch Festival Catwalk Event March 2024

I had a fantastic time taking a turn on the catwalk, which focused on the instructors and lecturers who were teaching at the 4 day event.

The show highlighted the styling and designs of instructors and professional makers in the sewing industry.

I showcased my Egyptian coat, the styling, the concept which I conceived whilst visiting the British Museum in London. I also wore a suit made from traditional  African wax printed cotton

Bexhill Museum Event August 2024

Following the launch of my latest book, I was invited to co-host an archive event at the East Sussex museum.

highlights of the weekend included speaking to groups about my journey from the first initial visit to the establishment, through the selection process and research into the final garments which ultimately became part of my book.

Author Francois Campbell showcases bespoke tailoring artistry through this stunning display of performance garments. Consequently, the collection features an intricately gold-embroidered black waistcoat alongside a patterned skirt. Furthermore, traditional headwear completes this theatrical ensemble. Moreover, every piece reflects a deep mastery of garment construction.

My article was released on waistcoat construction to the public. It featured how to construct a waistcoat for a woman from start to finish  which included in-depth advice on canvas preparation and pocket making.

The Knit & Stitch Festival –  September 2024

Alexandra Palace, Central London 

I returned to the Knit and Stitch Festival to teach at the iconic building in the biggest craft festival held in London and the South East of England.

Over the weekend, I taught several classes to sewing enthusiasts. Consequently, I demonstrated how to take accurate measurements for men and women. Furthermore, I showed the groups how to create various pockets for different garments. Moreover, the students practiced these techniques immediately. Accordingly, everyone gained practical tailoring skills.

Back by popular demand, I am repeating the classes I taught at Alexandra Palace.

In addition to that, I will be conducting a public demonstration on how to draft a trouser pattern without pre-existing pattern blocks.
